In floriography, the Chrysanthemum represents longevity, joy, and optimism. I wanted to show all of these ideas in my garment. All in all, Chrysanthemum is meant to convey healing and companionship. The woman in this outfit is independent, but she thrives on the support and love of others.

She is a Chrysanthemum.

The design features a long cape, representing protection and longevity, as well as a high scalloped collar and an open jacket to bring out one's sense of fun and confidence. The inside of the cape and jacket is lined with a custom print designed by me of chrysanthemums. This is paired with a pair of straight legged slacks designed to hug the hips but not the legs.

I was lucky enough to be able to take part in the Hemline for Hearts competition for the American Heart Association’s 2023 fundraiser ball. It was an amazing opportunity to raise money for a cause using my unique creative abilities.

The rest of the contestants and I were given 4 hours to make an outfit out of the paper hearts used for donations at the American Heart Association. The outfit must only consist of the paper hearts, fasteners (glue, tape, velcro), and an optional thin undergarment.
